My Grampy, Kenny Poulson passed away on Easter. He was one amazing guy! I could go on and on about how AWESOME he was...because he was that AWESOME!He was MY grandpa. (I am proud of that)
I am so lucky to have had a grandpa who loved me, cared for me, wanted the best for me, and was so fun to be with! He was one of a kind!!
A few (of the million) things I love about him...
- His big contagious smile, his outgoing personality, and his loud chuckle!
- His love for his family...he loved getting us all together
- His love and passion for the outdoors. He did it all up until just a few years ago. Skiing, water skiing, camping, hiking, biking, golfing...you name it, he did it!
- His protective nature...he always let us know he was there to protect us. He kept a big bat under the seat of his car and told us "I know how to use it."... I believed him.
- His hugs and kisses
- Riding on the ski lifts eating carmel's, singing camp songs and putting cocoa butter on my face...then watching him race down the mountain in his bright one piece ski-suit. He loved to go fast!!
- His love for the Tetons, and the yearly vacations we took there. Water-skiing, tent cabins...(his was more like a Deluxe carpeted and fully accessorized tent cabin) blueberry pancakes, the hammock, catching squirrels, shooting my first gun, hikes to Jenny Lake & Swan lake, campfires, driving for my first time...his van and the boat, etc... Lots of memories in the Tetons thanks to him and Gram!
- His answer for every question...there was no question he couldn't answer.
- His strange taste in food...but he LOVED his Ginger's cooking! Peanut butter and cheese-wiz on pancakes, his sun-warmed Velveeta and Bologna sandwiches on the boat...just to name a couple. YUM! He always wanted to share...no thanks grampy.
- He was prepared for every situation. Always carrying(usually in his fluorescent fanny pack) extra snacks, ponchos, band aids, change of clothes...he was ready.
- He was a CHARACTER! Full of surprises! He was a hoot! He always made me and everyone around laugh!
- He loved my kids! He always greeted them with a smile, wave and a happy hello...even when he wasn't feeling well. My Prince adored him! He would go running into my gram and grampy's house yelling "where is grampy?" he would run into his room give him a hug and say "hey grampy!"
- My grampy lived life to the fullest! And encouraged us to do the same...he knew we could do anything we put our minds to.
He was the best! I will cherish every moment we spent together! I am so grateful to have him as an example to me. I am so grateful for all the things he has taught me throughout my life! I hope that I will be able to live my life yelling "yahoo!" just as my grandparents have done!
I love you Grampy!!
